Outward Bound is an international, non-profit, independent outdoor education organisation with approximately 40 schools around the world and 200,000 participants per year. Outward Bound programmes aim to foster the personal growth and social skills of participants by using challenging expeditions in the outdoors. Outward Bound Vietnam has been operating since November 2016 and we have entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Outward Bound Vietnam to recognise it as the designated outdoor experiential educational provider for our students, whereby it will conduct a wide spectrum of education programmes for students and professional development programmes for our staff and to develop and integrate outdoor education into our curriculum.
Singapore International School (SIS) is pleased to integrate the OBV Programme into our curriculum for Year 4 upwards students to enhance the development of the whole child. Specifically, students will have a greater understanding of working as a team through tackling various physical challenges and consider the different needs, individual learning styles and cultural factors when working in a team. The OBV Programme will also contribute to students’ ability to be independent, responsible, accountable as well as enhance their confidence and leadership qualities. During the OBV Programme, students will be participating in various team building activities under the instruction and supervision of well-trained OBV instructors and SIS staff.
